Website redesign — February 2009
The main purpose of this redesign is to improve layout structure and visual design to produce clearer and more user friendly pages.
Images
Text equivalents for alt tags have been provided for images including photographs of people.
Page Layout
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) have been utilised for page layout, giving a clean and streamlined visual appearance, also at a reduced page file size. Traditionally tables were used for page layout but a most vistors to our website utilise web browsers compatible with CSS. Care has been taken to exclude the implementation of mainly un-supported CSS tags.
Structural Markup
Throughout the site, structural markup has been used. Page headings and sub-headings are indicated by the use of the header elements h1, h2, h3 etc. Important items have been highlighted with the use of strong or em, and lists have been marked up using ul and li.
Scripting
This site makes use of Java scripting for non-essential display of dates in the footer.
